【摘要】:Occipital-cervicalandoccipital-cervical-thoracicspinalimplantsaregenerallycomposedofseveralcomponentswhich,whenconnectedtogether,formeitheranoccipital-cervicalspinalimplantassemblyoranoccipital-cervical-thoracicspinalimplantassembly.Occipital-cervicalandoccipital-cervical-thoracicspinalimplantassembliesaredesignedtoprovidesomestabilitytothespineduringtheprocessofarthrodesis.Thesetestmethodsoutlinestandardmaterialsandmethodsfortheevaluationofdifferentspinalimplantassembliestofacilitatecomparisonsbetweendifferentdesigns.Thesetestmethodsareusedtoquantifythestaticanddynamicmechanicalcharacteristicsofdifferentdesignsofoccipital-cervicalandoccipital-cervical-thoracicspinalimplantassemblies.Themechanicaltestsareconductedinvitrousingsimplifiedloadschemesanddonotattempttomimicthecomplexloadsoftheoccipital-cervicalandoccipital-cervical-thoracicspine.Theloadsappliedtothespinalimplantassembliesinvivowill,ingeneral,differfromtheloadingconfigurationsusedinthesetestmethods.Theresultsobtainedherecannotbeuseddirectlytopredictinvivoperformance.Theresultscanbeusedtocomparedifferentcomponentdesignsintermsoftherelativemechanicalparameters.Fatiguetestinginasimulatedbodyfluidorsalinemaycausefretting,corrosion,orlubricatetheinterconnectionsandtherebyaffecttherelativeperformanceoftesteddevices.Thistestshouldbeinitiallyperformeddry(ambientroomconditions)forconsistency.Theeffectoftheenvironmentmaybesignificant.Repeatingallorpartofthesetestmethodsinsimulatedbodyfluid,saline(9gNaClper1000mLwater),asalinedrip,water,oralubricantshouldbeconsidered.Themaximumrecommendedfrequencyforthistypeofcyclictestingshouldbe5Hz.Thelocationofthelongitudinalelementsisdeterminedbytheintendedinvivolocationoftheanchors.Theperpendiculardistancetotheloaddirectionbetweentheaxisofahingepinandtheanchor''sattachmentpointstoapolyacetalblockisindependentofanchor-typeforthecervicalblock,butdependentonthedesignfortheoccipitaltestblock.Thedistancebetweenthepolyacetalblockandthecenterofthelongitudinalelementisafunctionofthedesignoftheimplant.1.1Thesetestmethodscoverthematerialsandmethodsforthestaticandfatiguetestingofoccipital-cervicalandoccipital-cervical-thoracicspinalimplantassembliesinavertebrectomymodel.Thetestmaterialsformostcombinationsofoccipital-cervicalandoccipital-cervical-thoracicspinalimplantcomponentscanbespecificdependingontheintendedlocationandintendedmethodofattachment.1.2Thesetestmethodsareintendedtoprovideabasisforthemechanicalcomparisonamongpast,present,andfutureoccipital-cervicalandoccipital-cervical-thoracicspinalimplantassemblies.Theyallowcomparisonofoccipital-cervicalandoccipital-cervical-thoracicspinalimplantconstructswithdifferentmethodsofapplicationtothespine.Thesetestmethodsarenotintendedtodefinelevelsofperformance,sincesufficientknowledgeisnotavailabletopredicttheconsequencesoftheuseofaparticulardevice.1.3Thesetestmethodssetoutguidelinesforloadtypesandmethodsofapplyingloads.Methodsforthreestaticloadtypesandtwofatiguetestsforthecomparativeevaluationofoccipital-cervicalandoccipital-cervical-thoracicspinalimplantassembliesaredefined.1.4Thesetestmethodsestablishguidelinesformeasuringdisplacements,determiningtheyieldload,andevaluatingthestiffnessandstrengthofoccipital-cervicaloroccipital-cervical-thoracicspinalimplantasse......
